The Cross River State Government, through The Office of the Special Assistant to Governor on Entertainment is set to partner with global music distribution company - TuneAfrique, to enlighten and empower youths in the entertainment sector across the state.
It could be recalled that prior to 2020 and the outbreak of the pandemic, music and entertainment consumption was projected to grow at double digit rates over the next decade. This growth has now been accelerated following the digital transformations experienced in the last twelve months with many countries affected by COVID-19, declaring lockdowns to contain the spread of the virus.
This has resulted in an increase in the number of users who engaged in live streaming via monetized platforms. Similar trends were observed in Nigeria as well, and as the audience started to find different ways to consume content, especially music, the creators specialized in the digitalization of the said content for easy access to listeners in different parts of the world, which has inspired the need to ensure that musicians of Cross River origin are positioned to also tap in to the boom of marketing their contents on digital channels.
As the pandemic eases off, Cross River State Government has embarked on this project that will enable youths in entertainment get back on their feet, by partnering with TuneAfrique Distribution to place their contents on digital platforms where audiences can consume it, while they in turn make some money.
The Private Public Partnership with TUNEAFRIQUE is an initiative setup to bring the necessary information to the Cross-River Youths through a one-day workshop, where the team enlighten attendees on the process of uploading their songs to digital platforms like Spotify, Apple music, TIDAL, YOUTUBE music etc and show them some necessary tools to enable them make money off those platforms.
Tuneafrique has created a registration portal and encourages as many youths in the state to register so they can pertake in the event which holds on June 16, 2021 and is expected to have keynote speeches by great personalities. Be rest assured that all Covid-19 safety protocols will be observed.
